The Mission of Los Cenzontles Mexican Arts Center is to:
provide a quality education in Mexican art forms to the general public with an emphasis on youth;
promote and present unique and culturally valuable arts and artists in Mexican genres;
sponsor cultural exchanges between the U.S. and Mexico with an emphasis on youth;
develop community awareness and responsibility through the arts.
About Us
Los Cenzontles is one of very few arts organization that is run by the community it serves. Most of LCMAC staff and faculty are young adults are from the neighborhood and grew up in the program.
Los Cenzontles youth group began in 1989 and the Arts Center was incorporated in 1994. Currently there are 200 students enrolled weekly in 40 music, dance, arts and craft group classes in addition to private lessons in a variety of instruments and voice.
We are also proud that our faculty has long histories with the organization. Our master artists are among the finest of practitioners of their traditions.
