Educational Resources and OutreachThe mission of Los Cenzontles Mexican Arts Center is to provide affordable arts education opportunities to youth that results in the strengthening of the individual, the family, and the community. Los Cenzontles strongly believes that traditional culture should not simply be a cultural display, but be a vehicle for deeper and more relevant modes of expression. We achieve this by promoting both a strong technical approach to music and dance, as well as the social contexts for the traditions represented. These traditions range from the rare to the popular, from ancient Alabanzas (songs of praise) to Pirecuas (Indigenous love songs) to Banda Sinaloense and its quebradita. Music is the forum around which people gather to express themselves.
